KIMBERLY ARCAND

Kimberly Arcand was working in molecular biology and public health when she was hired for NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory in 1998. Since she always wanted to be an astronaut when she was little, this opportunity got Kimberly close to the cosmos but without the long distance commute. Today, Kimberly uses data to help tell stories about science, whether in the form of a 3D model of an exploded star, a book about the Universe, or a tweet about how fireflies glow.

Jeremy Blum is the Director of Engineering at Shaper, where he is using computer vision to reinvent the way people use handheld power tools. Prior to joining Shaper, Jeremy was a lead electrical architect/engineer for confidential projects at Google [x]. He holds several patents and was named to the Forbes 2017 30-Under-30 list. He has designed and built prosthetic hands, structure-climbing robots, 3D Printers, and home automation systems. His videos and book have taught engineering to millions of people in every country on Earth. When he’s bored, Jeremy tends to connect stuff to the internet: hats, umbrellas, window shades, and trees are a few of his few recent victims.

As Executive Director of Wild Me and a co-founder of the Wildbook project, Jason’s current focus is on the development of AI that augment and interact with wildlife research communities. By combining multiple forms of machine learning to data mine social media, Jason’s work manages to curate images, locations and timestamps that in return give the gift of knowledge to support species conservation.

Dr. Sian Proctor is a geoscientist, explorer, and science communication expert with a passion for space exploration. She’s an analog astronaut and lives in Moon and Mars simulations. She believes that when we solve for space we also solve issues on Earth. She has a TEDx talk called Eat Like a Martian and published the Meals for Mars Cookbook. She was a finalist for the 2009 NASA Astronaut Program. She is a Solar System Ambassador and serves on the National Science Teaching Association’s Aerospace Advisory Board. Dr. Proctor is a professor at South Mountain Community College, Phoenix, Arizona. She has a B.S. in Environmental Science, an M.S. in Geology, and a Ph.D. in Science Education.
STEVEN L. SMITH

Steve Smith is one of America’s most experienced astronauts with 4 spaceflights and 7 spacewalks to repair the Hubble Space Telescope and build the Space Station. During the 3-decade pursuit of his dream he became a Stanford electrical engineer and MBA, General Motors Fellow, pilot, elite collegiate athlete, and IBM Product Manager. At NASA Steve held multiple senior leadership positions and served as a Diplomat. He now uses this one-of-a-kind experience base as a board director, venture capital advisor, and keynote speaker. Steve shares the wonders of spaceflight and motivates audiences to use his lessons learned – an “explorer’s mindset” and disciplined protocols – to improve individual, team, and leadership performance in today’s dynamic highly-competitive business environment.
DAVE WILLIAMS
PHYSICIAN & ASTRONAUT
Prior to joining the Canadian Space Agency and his first flight aboard Space Shuttle Columbia, Dr. Williams worked in Emergency Medicine. After his first mission, Dr. Williams held the position of Director of the Space and Life Sciences Directorate at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. In 2001, he became an aquanaut and the first Canadian to have lived and worked in space and in the ocean. Taking part in three spacewalks, he spent 17hours and 47 minutes outside the shuttle, and holds the record for the highest number of spacewalks performed by a Canadian in a single mission. After retiring from the space program in 2008, Dr. Williams returned to healthcare. Today he is an accomplished author and speaker who is passionate about inspiring the next generation to pursue their dreams.
